Cycle Challenge for Cancer Research

This May, as part of our ‘Socius Cancer Charity Challenge 2024’ three members of the Socius team are getting on their bikes to join the fight against cancer!

Raising funds for The Institute of Cancer Research, our Director, Steve Eccles, and Development Director, Mike Dodd, will ride from London to Leeds for UKREiiF - The UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum.

Less than a week after the UKREiiF ride, Steve will be back in the saddle, joined by our Head of Engagement, Liam Ronan-Chlond for the 2024 Ford RideLondon.

May’s cycle challenge will follow in the (thousands of) footsteps of Liam and Director, Daniel May’s London Marathon run, which has so far raised more than £5,000, and means that we’re already over half way towards reaching our £10,000 ‘Socius Cancer Charity Challenge’ target!

“We’ve all been touched by cancer at some point in our lives, whether personally or through a family or friend. Sadly, half of us will develop cancer in our lifetimes, says Liam. That’s why the work of The Institute of Cancer Research is so important. They are world leaders in identifying cancer genes, discovering cancer drugs and developing precision radiotherapy.

“Socius and our partners Aviva will be developing the world’s leading district for cancer research and treatment at the London Cancer Hub in Sutton. As Social Impact lead for the project, I will be spearheading fundraising for cancer research. This will begin with the London Marathon on April 21st, followed by Ride London in May and the Great North Run in September. All this is part of the Socius Cancer Challenge, a year’s worth of fundraising activity for vital cancer research.”
