Driving collaboration and innovation at London Life Sciences Week

Together with The Institute of Cancer Research, Socius & Populate were delighted to host the Conquering Cancer Innovators Forum as part of London Life Sciences Week 2025, bringing together a dynamic community of researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, clinicians, and healthcare leaders to accelerate progress in oncology.

Held at 180 Strand, this flagship event was produced in partnership with The London Cancer Hub, The Institute of Cancer Research, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, Aviva Capital Partners and London Borough of Sutton. Chaired by Claire Cockerton, the forum showcased the power of collaboration in shaping the future of cancer research and treatment.

Championing London’s Life Sciences Ecosystem

The evening opened with inspiring keynotes from Prof. Chris Molloy, CEO of Medicines Discovery Catapult, and Prof. Kristian Helin, CEO and President of The Institute of Cancer Research. Both speakers highlighted London’s unique strengths as a global hub for oncology innovation, underpinned by world-class research, clinical excellence, and a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem.

A lively panel discussion followed, chaired by Dr. Angela Kukula of MedCity, to explore the next chapter in oncology innovation. Panellists discussed how integrated models, combining research, clinical care, and education, are driving better outcomes for patients, and why collaboration across sectors is essential for translating breakthroughs from the lab to the clinic.

Spotlight on start-ups and patient voices

The forum featured rapid-fire presentations from seven pioneering start-ups supported by the Cancer Tech Accelerator, each tackling critical challenges in cancer care, from surgical visualisation and AI-driven drug discovery to novel medical devices and cancer vaccines.

A powerful fireside chat brought the patient perspective to the fore, with journalist and advocate Gilly Mathieson sharing her personal journey alongside Jonathan Kwok, CEO of Infinitopes. Their conversation underscored the human impact of innovation and the importance of keeping patients at the heart of progress.

Looking ahead

London Cancer Hub is committed to fostering environments where innovation and collaboration can thrive. The Conquering Cancer Innovators Forum exemplified the collective ambition to make London a world leader in life sciences, delivering real impact for patients and communities.

We extend our thanks to all partners, sponsors, and attendees including MedCity, London & Partners and BioIndustry Association (BIA) for making this event a success. We look forward to continuing the conversation and building the future of life sciences together.
