Cambridge artists showcase sustainability inspired art

Sustainability is a key component of our proposals at Devonshire Gardens in Cambridge and the Space to Grow competition, launched in 2021, has supported this ambition.

Local residents from across Cambridge were invited to name their favourite plant varieties for inclusion in the new public park included in the plans for the redevelopment of the current Travis Perkins site on Devonshire Road. The entries to the competition saw hollyhock, foxgloves, wisteria, climbing roses, peonies and other garden favourites shortlisted for planting.

Artists were invited to create artworks inspired by the plant varieties and these were showcased at a local exhibition.

Doug Higgins, Project Director said 'Our Space to Grow competition has afforded us the fantastic opportunity to showcase the creativity, ingenuity and talent of Cambridge artists, and I cannot thank the artists or Cambridge Community Arts and Cambridge Open Studios enough for partnering with us to commission the pieces and bring the nominations to life'.
