Populate’s Lunch & Learn builds momentum

Populate’s Lunch & Learn series at the Innovation Gateway is gathering momentum, bringing together researchers, clinicians, businesses and the wider London Cancer District community to share ideas and make new connections.

Launched earlier this year, the regular sessions are part of Populate’s growing programme of activity at the Innovation Gateway, designed to create opportunities for people working across the campus to meet, learn from one another and discover more about the research and innovation happening around them.

Previous speakers have included Professor Uwe Oelfke from The Institute of Cancer Research and The Royal Marsden, who shared the work of his Radiotherapy Physics Modelling Team, as well as Aleck Jones, CEO and Co-Founder of Innovation Gateway tenant Kindling Bio. The sessions have grown alongside a wider programme of activity being delivered by Populate, from food pop-ups and community events to bringing together founders, scientists, investors and research organisations.

This autumn, the series continues with Professor Adam Le Gresley of Kingston University on 27th October, exploring the journey from Kingston University to the London Cancer District and the role of expertise, innovation and collaboration in advancing research.

He will be followed on 2nd November by Professor Kevin Harrington, NIHR Senior Investigator and Head of Radiotherapy and Imaging at The Institute of Cancer Research and The Royal Marsden, whose research spans immunotherapy, radiotherapy and oncolytic virotherapy.

For Populate, programmes such as Lunch & Learn are an important part of creating successful innovation ecosystems. Great places are not simply about providing high-quality buildings and workspace, but creating the connections, networks and experiences that enable people and organisations to collaborate.

The Lunch & Learn series forms part of Populate’s wider role at the London Cancer District, where it manages the Innovation Gateway and is helping to grow an increasingly connected community of researchers, clinicians and life sciences businesses.
