Botanic Place, which is adjacent to Cambridge Botanic Gardens, comprises an existing office building, Botanic House, the historic Flying Pig pub building, and adjacent land.
Socius alongside Railpen are bringing forward a new £500m office scheme designed by architects AHMM. The vision for the 500,000 sq ft project is that it will become the most sustainable and intelligent workspace in Cambridge.
Socius and Railpen are committed to preserving and upgrading the building that housed the once popular Flying Pig, with the ambition of creating a vibrant new music venue for the community.
Botanic Place will be the second collaboration between Socius and Railpen, with work due to start in 2023 on Devonshire Gardens, a £180m mixed use development with office space, homes and a new public park close to Cambridge rail station.

Railpen working with Socius acquired the site (which also includes the adjoining Botanic House) in summer 2022. The design of the development has been updated to reduce the amount of carbon being used in construction, and to improve the operational carbon performance. Construction is due to commence in 2024.
