Housing plans ‘consistently underestimate’ the importance of placemaking

In the latest issue of Property Week, Socius comments on the recent planning and housing policy announcements. Managing Director, Barry Jessup says “it does appear to be more of a political football than a solution for long-term successful places.”

Joined by commentary from BusinessLDN’s deputy chief executive Muniya Barua and Nichola Gooch, planning lawyer and partner at Irwin Mitchell, Barry explains: “Housing on its own doesn’t regenerate anything, it’s there to support regeneration which is almost always triggered by employment or culture and there’s no attempt to address that here.”
