Socius celebrates formation day on Giving Tuesday

On Tuesday 28th November, a ‘Global Day of Giving’, known as Giving Tuesday, saw people around the world celebrate and encourage giving in all its forms; and it felt like the perfect day for the team to mark two successful years of Socius!

Starting the day at the Grand Arcade in Cambridge, dressed as Santa’s elves, team Socius set to work wrapping presents, writing personalised gift tags and making up activity packs for Edge Café and Cambridge Youth Panel to give to families and members of the local community, who are in need this festive season.

Organised by our Cambridge-based comms partner, Conscious Communications, who are committed to using their public relations and marketing expertise as a force for good, we were really grateful to them for enabling us to take part in this fun and festive giving back activity.

Next on our agenda, we donned our hi-vis jackets and ventured outdoors for some corporate volunteering with Cambridge City Council, including weeding, hoeing, planting, shovelling and raking at Coleridge Recreation ground.

This year’s formation day activities follow-on from our first year of celebrations, which saw the team volunteer with local partners ACH in Bristol and MK Food Bank in Milton Keynes.

Commenting on why he believes doing good is good for business and why Socius opts to celebrate its anniversaries by giving back, Managing Director, Barry Jessup explains: “As a people-centred developer, we’re always keen to support charitable organisations, community initiatives and local groups. Celebrating our formation day in this way has multiple benefits to the business and our team, as well as to the organisations that we support; it gives us all the feel-good factor, keeps us healthy, helps us connect with communities, its contagious and it helps us to create a legacy.”
