As an impactful developer, Socius believes there is huge value in communicating with young people, and we actively seek out opportunities to engage with the younger generation. One way that we’ll be doing that in 2024, is by partnering with Regeneration Brainery, an organisation that inspires young people from under-represented backgrounds to kickstart a career in property and regeneration, at the UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum, UKREiiF.
Leading the way on youth engagement within the property industry, Socius understands the challenges of communicating with young people about the real estate sector. We’ve been part of a number of programmes, partnerships and projects to help break down these barriers, including:
- Hosted two Future of London Emerging Talent Programme placements
- Partnered with Design West on its Shape My City Talent Accelerator Programme
- Organised a design workshop for Ashton Park High School in Bristol
- Joined EVERFI UK to deliver a regeneration workshop for Long Road Sixth Form College, with Urban Land Institute, in Cambridge
- Took part in a week-long Careers fair at Hannah More Primary School, alongside Barings and the Bristol Soapworks project team
- Participated in the first Green Careers Fair at Long Road Sixth Form with Railpen and their Cambridge project teams
- Supported NorthStar school in Bristol to landscape new Green Space, in partnership with Bristol Works
- Supported The Cavendish and St Paul’ CE Schools in Cambridge with gardening advice and equipment
- Supported young people to gain skills and experience in partnership with Bridgeman and Bridgeman, YMCA, MK Council and MKDP, as part of the Green Roof Project in Milton Keynes
- Liam Ronan-Chlond is a mentor with young people’s charity Babbasa in Bristol and also supports young people getting into the property industry with Regeneration Brainery in Manchester
- Steve Eccles is soon to take over as President of the Round Table Great Britain and Ireland, a national young men’s club
- Daniel May coaches his local youth football team
- Olaide Oboh is a mentor with the Girls Network
- …and many more
